Siggraph Asia 2008 in Singapore

The world's largest and most prestigious computer graphic show, Siggraph Asia 2008, is to be hosted in Singapore, from December 10, 2008 to December 13, 2008. The venue is confirmed to be located at the Suntec Convention Centre, where it will showcase the latest animation from top studios, cutting-edge computer graphics technologies, animation workshops as well as digital media research paper. The annual computer graphics show is likely to attract more than 6,000 visitors and 1,000 trade delegates from all over the world.



The premier annual Siggraph event is generally held in the United States, organised by the world's largest computer graphics society - the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics (ACM Siggraph).

Singapore became the first Asian country, among several others, e.g. Korea, Australia, Japan and China, to win the bid to host the first Asian show, due to its world-class conference infrastructure and ease of access for international participants. It was revealed that the ballot was down to a three-way contest between Singapore, Shanghai and Tokyo. Although Singapore may have won the bid for Siggraph 2008, Japan (in Yokohama) was also awarded to host the show in 2009.
